AR-15, chest rig, and ear protection - all on my person. Ventilate as many as I can that are rushing the house, fall back to a defensive choke point, continue unloading as they swarm. The odds are not in my favor, but I'll take as many of them down before they overwhelm me or torch my house and I'm trapped inside.

Okay, but then after spending all your ammo on niggers, what do you do about the police when they come to arrest you for murdering all those innocent human beings who's lives matter?

M1 Gerand if you have to shoot through the floor. Good in a defensive situation when you're dealing possibly with a large armed gang whos obvious intent is to rape/murder/loot, such as in a civil breakdown scenario.
Or if you still want to go .223, Mini-14 has a lot more going for it. Longer sights, shorter profile, easier to maintain.
I see where you're going with the Garand. From what I've seen, the clips are smaller than an AR-15 magazine, which doesn't seem ideal from a fast reloading perspective. The Mini-14 doesn't look like too bad of a platform. I already have my AR, though, so I'm not going to make a side-grade to my gear at this point.
