In the UK Unemployment pays less than disability which pays less than working.
Typically, that's here as well. For example, the state I'm in caps your unemployment payments at ~$500 max per week, assuming you made enough working to receive that amount.
The federal government kicked in an extra $600 a week for several months, so I'm making more sitting at home looking for a new job than I made working a job. That extra payment ends at the end of July, so those of us still off will be getting about $2000 a month for a 4-week month. For most, that's going to suck, but I was a frugal little bird and didn't get myself into debt. The alarmists are already predicting a massive downturn come August, when people start being unable to pay all those bills they racked up over the years.
