I've been saying since the late 90s that China shouldn't be trusted.

I don't like it. The main excuse is that Huawei will spy on us, which is exactly what the various agencies and IT giants are already doing. I see no reason to defend their monopoly in spying.

Concerning the financial aspect of bringing the factories back, I'm not thrilled either. Who will work in those factories? They already import pajeets by the thousands to work in similar jobs, so it will only make matters worse.

I see. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

To start with, being an engineer is not the best option in most western countries. The culture just labels engineers as nerds and incels and doesn't respect them. They often end up underpaid and neglected by society. So good luck trying to establish an engineering culture in western countries. China succeeded because building things is not viewed in a negative way.

Also, historically US obliged other countries to open their markets to American products. Now that there is no American production and the American market is penetrated by foreign products it's not easy to retract into isolationism.

And the allegations about bugged devices are also funny when so many people have been avoiding American products after those photos with Cisco products being interdicted and so on.

I think he's right, and I think no country should let key infrastructures and services be run by foreign entities, at least not in a big way. As long as it remains marginal in terms of market shares, I guess it's ok

Because quite frankly a huawei takeover of US telecoms let alone world's telecommunication, no fucking thanks. CCCP is too much of a sick self serving control freak entity to be trusted with anything

I mean they can do whatever they want in their country for all I care, but you know they are going to try their way outside their borders if given the opportunity, they just can't help it, it's like expecting an arab to turn anything but an arab once he leaves the borders of an arab country. It's ridiculous, he's who he is and that's not likely going to improve in any other way

Just search about Trump banning Huawei.

I think it's good he extended it. We already know they steal our ip and research. Why help them do. Would we have let the Soviet Union install our phone lines during the Cold War?

Even beyond the security risk economically we should be using American companies.

Although Huawei builds excellent devices (minus ), China is a dystopia.

Social credit system. Absolutely grotesque.
