I've been over there but I do wonder where their funding is coming from. They have a lot of youtubers doing sponsored videos.

Sketchy just like every other in-your-face platform trying to "dethrone Youtube/Amazon/<insert large tech corp/service here>"

The more you read into it, the more you realize it's not what it's claiming to be.

A freedom centric service, run by an organization, cannot exist for very long on the legacy internet we use today.

I wonder if Elon Musk, with all those satellites he's putting in orbit, is going to give us a new version of the Internet... Hopefully something that won't be censored... Wishful thinking eh.

The only censorship resistant approach to a new internet is one where the infrastructure is owned and oeprated by the community (decentralized)

The probability that Elong Multch could build a censorship-free internet--even if he geniunely wanted to--is 0%.

What I like the most is the decentralization, you can't go wrong with that, right? But I don't like stuff that looks too good to be true, that's why I'm looking to poke holes in it. My biggest concern is copyright stuff. Using LBRY can gain you cryptocurrency, so what happens if some copyright owner gets upset about his stuff being on there and people making 0.0002 cents by watching and sharing it? How will/could stuff get removed? Is it possible to remove content from a decentralized platform like that? Are users going to end up in trouble? Other thoughts?

Okay you didn’t respond to me and I commented before you make this comment. The comment here all I’m seeing is “hey you can make money” which is very suspicious being your only comment.

Well, that's one of the first things this place tells anybody. I'm concerned about people getting in trouble with the law because of how it all works... I want it to be "good", I just don't know if it really is.

I'm wondering about the implications about even watching stuff that's copyrighted on there. I think they give people their crypto just for using their service, even without uploading anything.
