I haven't, but everyone I've talked to that has had one said it was a huge improvement.
I had one in my knee, it was...eh. It helped a little, for a little while. I have a friend with a bad shoulder, they generally don't help him.
Weed didn't help me at all.
afraid of this - that it will help only temporarily. doc says after 3 or 4 times, its time for surgery. so your knee pain is bearable now? you considering surgery?
It's bearable, and has improved greatly since I quit drinking a lot of soda and sitting in office chairs. Diet can (as you found out) be beneficial in controlling arthritis related pain, and that's helped me a lot so surgery isn't something I'm going to consider until it becomes necessary because of buildup or other problems in the joint.
Cortisone is just a treatment, it's not a cure for this kind of problem, so it's temporary. There are also plenty of low dose anti-inflammatory drugs out there that can help, don't be afraid to ask about stuff like that. Just don't get stuck on opiates or synthetic opiates like oxy. That stuff is dangerous no matter how you look at it.
thanks - up until 3 weeks ago I felt i was getting a handle on it. then i started waking up with shooting pain again. i can't pinpoint what changed so i'm trying the shot. hope things keep improving for you.
I got some while I had plantar fasciitis (torn arches). I would get cortizone shots to help minimize the pain from sitting too long. It didn't hurt, felt like a small rubber ball was in there initially. I got them a few times, once was before a family trip to Disneyland. Once every 3 months roughly. Solved the problem by getting a new bed, Superfeet inserts and my body growing a spur there.
It was a huge improvement for me.
glad to hear they were helpful and became unnecessary. every 3 months sounds more frequent than I've heard of before - but they worked and that's what counts. thanks for sharing.
I was on my feet a lot at that time and it felt like the whole arch was torn off the heel bones.
It is all in the doctor or pain management specialist who does it.
Sometimes it works.... sometimes it don't. They really must know what they are doing.
I did two and it didn't help my situation so I went to flexoril and that helped me.
do you have to take flexoril regularly? they gave me 800mg motrin prescrip which numbed the hand pain but made me sick to my stomach?
Omniprezmnol or something like that I took as well back then along with gabapentin.
I don't take it now mind you, but it did help a lot
thanks for the info
weed is remarkable for pain management, if you can deal with the stigma.
already tried that before seeing the doc in Jan. it reduces but doesn't eliminate. you're right, though - good place to start
I had one in my knee. I think it may have helped a little, nothing to write home about. J also had a crazy reaction when they gave it to me and kinda passed out. Good luck.
I've had cortisone shots for hay feaver and one shot lasted a whole month. Without the shot my eyes excreted so much mucus that I had to pull the mucus out in order to open my eyes. After shot i had no problems
