I've heard that a swastika can represent either Yin or Yang, depending on which way the spokes turn, but which is which? Is Hitler's swastika Yin or Yang?

But that's just a meme right? I mean it makes sense if one is the windmill of peace and the other is the windmill of war, but the meme could have it backwards.

A salient point.

Memes are not legitimate scientific sources, generally. But they're POWERFUL and MAGICAL! So at least there's that, I guess.

Well fuck, i just checked Wikipedia of all places and found the answer. Don't know why I didn't see this the last time I was wondering about this.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

In Hinduism, the symbol with arms pointing clockwise (卐) is called swastika, symbolizing surya ('sun'), prosperity and good luck, while the counterclockwise symbol (卍) is called sauvastika, symbolizing night or tantric aspects of Kali.

卐 = sun = Yang
卍 = night = Yin

Thanks, that's interesting. But does it help us answer the question?

symbols represent the sum of all experiences associated with said symbol. you cant un-Hitler a swastika unless you never experienced the association. similarly, most westerners have no association of swastika and yin nor yang

Symbols physically represent vibration patterns.

how useful is that statement comparatively? whats the implication for op?

The swastika must represent some vibrational pattern, like if you put sand on a membrane and hit it with the right vibrations it will form a swastika. The vibration is associated with specific thoughts/feelings.
