I haven't had to have a pair of steel toed boots in a long time and the ones that I had then were just to get me by(generic walmart crap more than likely). I'm needing to get a decent pair that will last me awhile but won't break the bank(<$250 preferred).

I'm looking for:

  • -Water proof
  • -Slip resistent
  • -Safety toe (Is composite good?)
  • -Oil resistant
  • -Prefer 8" height
  • -Flexible(kneeling to standing)

There's a good amount brands, types and opinions out there but what's your guys experience with? Seems like Redwing is about the go to for mid-high range boots.

Steel toe ftw I bough carbon fiber toe last time I bought a set and they did not hold up like steel.

Steel toes can fail pretty bad.... Composite flexs

You crush a steel toe, yeah not good. Never had a proplem with a composite toe

Is the weight difference really noticeable? That really seems to be the only difference with toe material really.

Also in winter, steel gets cold

It was the carbon fiber was lighter but it just doesn't hold up to even shifting a bike for a few years

Thanks. Was planning to use them for riding as well as work so that's good to know.
