I think it has a lot of positive potential. Mostly for making eugenics easier and nicer.

I only see it going one of couple ways, one we end up using it irresponsibly enough that we end life on the planet as we know it, two we end up creating two casts of humanity through engineered babies, or three it gets banned because something really bad happens.
