I think the mercury line is bs that was seized on either as sensationalism (lead people to the truth by first telling them a lie), or else malicious misinformation. A lot of what I've read point to autoimmune disorders attacking nerves in the gut, and gut disorders are *closely* tied to mental health and brain disorders/disabilities based on recent research over the last ten years. There are important connections between gut biota, and the brain, because we contain millions of nerves in the intestine, a small brain's worth of nerves in fact.
