I know that headphone plugs are becoming a rarity these days, but if you designed a smartphone, would you locate the headphone plug on the top or the bottom? (Optionally explain your choice in the comments.)

On the top.
On the bottom.

Top cause when its on the bottom you cant comfortably rest the bottom side on your chest or stomach

Valid point.

Although I am used to hold it in the air.

There are also some 90° sideways connectors.

Third party software can enforce upside down rotation.

As long as the plugs were all on the same side it shouldn't matter that much. I think the bottom makes more sense for moving the phone from pocket to hand and vice versa with headphones in.

Missing the *No headphone jack" option.

Feel free to make a poll about that.

It's a joke. I know how you love apple's design.

This was an exception.

I don't care, it just has to have one.

I voted for bottom, because if one is using the phone horizontally (relative to view) while resting sideways, which means that the phone is upside down, while charging and using headphones, the phone can just be held with the right hand while resting upside down.

One good design decision of Apple (and Samsung since 2015).
