I am not an organ donor. I think too many people profit from it. These companies do want Gam-Gam’s organs, they want young people who die suddenly. They pressure doctors to pressure families to cut life support without any real evidence that the condition will not improve. They harvest young people’s organs, don’t give anything in return, profit significantly from it. If these companies would pay for the funeral costs or even just a casket, something, I might be for it.

Also here’s a fun fact: the majority of organs needed in US are kidneys because diabetes eventually results in kidney failure. That’s right, most of the money grubbing organ takers are giving that shit to fatties. Fuck the fatties.

I am not an organ donor, purely for selfish reasons. They are my organs and I don't want anyone to have them but me or a family member.

Exactly. Of course I would donate an organ to a family member, but not to anybody Willy billy.

I’m a donor because my wife wanted me to be, however every time I have gotten on a motorcycle I question that choice.

I never gave organ donation too much thought until I went through nursing school. Specifically, when I had to sit through a presentation from a representative of one of those organ snatching companies. I am always skeptical when I am pushed to do something by the government or a company.

They're my organs, and no one else's. And I certainly don't want some one who's abused the piss out of their body that they need a new organ to get my parts.

They pressure doctors to pressure families to cut life support without any real evidence that the condition will not improve.

This I was not aware of. You work in a medical field and you know this happens?

I am a Registered Nurse I have not personally witnessed it but have had to sit through presentations from representatives of these companies. One thing I was told is that as a nurse we can “talk” to family members of terminally ill patients about organ donation and encourage it. These people want to be on scene before the patient dies. It is the nurses responsibility to call the company to alert them that this patient’s life support will be removed or that the patient will pass soon. they want doctors and nurses to pressure family into organ donation, to me that means you are also pressuring families to say goodbye. They are vulchers.

Once my corpse ends brain function I don't give two shits what happens. Fuck it.

You’re so spot on.

These lazy self-entitled mayo dumpsters are dominating waiting lists.

I'd be a donor if I could specify only healthy white young folks would get them

How does one opt-out of organ donation after being suckered in by propaganda when they were a bit younger?

I had to do that, they purposely make it hard. In Virginia, signing up for organ donation is done through the DMV. It was so many years ago, so I can’t exactly remember. But I do remember browsing the DMV website for quite a while before finding the right page.

I would not want to be buried with organs that I'm no longer using and someone else could. The idea of these companies paying for funeral costs is a good one though and would be more of an incentive for people to donate their organs although that alone could cause some families to pull the plug before they should. When my uncle died at 18 my grandparents donated his organs, that always seemed to comfort them at least a little bit.

Also, I don’t know about the states everyone lives in, but in Virginia organ donation is encouraged to the point of harassment. Don’t trust anything the government tries to force on you.
