I know babies can hear ultrasounds and that it bothers them and it seems that our child reacts to music from headphones placed over the womb. Would going to the range with my wife be too loud for the baby?

Aww, congratulations on having a baby!

ty. Have you started going to conversion camp yet? You could have progeny as well.

I'm fairly certain there are many ways to have children. I've always wanted to try making a robot in a lab. He'll have always wear a cape, but it'll be cool and safe because presumably if I can create a robot I can avoid an issue pointed out in a Pixar film.

Would air pistols or paintball guns be an option? I wouldn't have waited until now, but I don't know your situation so maybe it wasn't needed months ago. How heavily pregnant are you talking? Towards the end, my wife was barely able to move but she's 5 foot and the kids were 23 inches long.

I'm sure there's a way to ask a medical professional without bringing up guns. Ask if the baby would be okay if you took her to a NASCAR or NHRA race, or whatever series is within a reasonable distance that a heavily pregnant woman would travel too.

Weigh the risks: Possible damage to the kid vs danger of not being well trained with her gun. How much will the training increase the chance of a successful self defense?

Before the next kid, practice and think about getting a suppressor to stay sharp even while carrying the next one.

Why take the chance?

Because I'm not liking some of the things going on in my neighborhood. Want my wife to be able to competently wield a firearm because I won't always be at home to protect her.

Look, Im not gonna dis ya. But did you really have to wait till she was heavily preggers to decide she needed to shoot? I would personally do alot of dry fires with her if thats the point your at. If your not ready to pull the trigger it doesnt matter how much you train anyway.

Fair enough bru. I've taken her shooting several times and she knows how to handle a gun, but the main point is that I wanted to get more training for the both of us.

Sounds like you hit the mark already.

After 16 weeks along, the baby can definitely hear so it will be too loud and sudden for the baby. But even before that you want the mother to have as little as stress as possible as baby feels what the mother does. Shooting may be fun but it includes a level stress and adrenaline for most people, the less experienced the more it will effect them.

Probably best to wait until some time after baby is born (and then get a baby sitter of course!).

Get a baby sitter.

Congratulations!!!

Pregnant shooting? I doubt the eardrums would be damaged, but the stress might be bad/risky.

You know our little patch of not-quite-desert will always be open to you :D

I'm somewhat serious though because long term the solution here is to raise your family in a safe space.

I'm becoming quite aware of the need for a stable location to raise my family lol. Things are going pretty well here and the neighborhood is generally nice, just one "problem" person here bringing issues with them as far as I can tell.

How bad can one person be?

Other solutions:

  1. Guard dog.
  2. Motion sensors.
  3. Big fence/barb wire (if legal)/big thorny hedges.
  4. Train with air gun.
  5. Surveillance cameras.
  6. Neighborhood watch.
