Well, I don’t watch cable news so I can’t speak to their reporting, but everywhere else is awash with reporting about how awful and world ending this virus is, so I don’t quite get your frustration about media downplaying. I think it is more a case of you being frustrated that nobody else shares your alarm level.
Where I am it's treated as a seasonal flu, and last time I checked CDC was downplaying it
