Yes, you should. If something sucks, you should be able to make it known to the world with an anonymous -1. Trouble is, people abuse that and ruin it for everyone. Although I do love Poal, I hate the fact that downvotes are frowned upon. Why? Oh, because brigades.
So now we get people in here abusing THAT fact, the fact downvotes are public and frowned upon. They'll deliberately post garbage, just so they can berate and harass people who issue legit downvotes.
The great thing about voting on content is you feel you have a small hand in curating the content. That all goes out the window when you're only compelled to vote up, up, up!
If it's one thing I could change, it'd be the downvote situation. Folks shouldn't have to feel apprehensive about giving out minus ones to posts that are clearly spam, or just suck.
If you downvote you should be forced to reply, and if you don't, the downvote goes away.
Why, when people post deliberate downvote bait? Just another avenue of abuse..

If you have to reply when you downvote, you can't just blanket downvote like he claims to do.
Everything can and will be abused. My thinking is if you require a reply it would at least spur discussion instead of just the random downvoting. When I get downvoted elsewhere, I'd love to know why they downvoted my comment. Poal is one of the few where you can know who downvoted you if you interact enough with the site. I think there's too many people who hide behind the anonymity downvoting gives them.
Don’t forget the alt accounts that upvote garbage that extra 2 times just to make it more annoying.

Agreed. I've been rethinking my adherence to the not-downvoting-idiots guidelines.
