One of my favorite things about Poal are the downvote mores. The abuse of the "disagree" button is a huge reason why other sites are so hostile. They promote a paucity of opinions. I have an account here and on voat, and have never downvoted anyone.

Yes, you should. If something sucks, you should be able to make it known to the world with an anonymous -1. Trouble is, people abuse that and ruin it for everyone. Although I do love Poal, I hate the fact that downvotes are frowned upon. Why? Oh, because brigades.
So now we get people in here abusing THAT fact, the fact downvotes are public and frowned upon. They'll deliberately post garbage, just so they can berate and harass people who issue legit downvotes.

I’ve never gotten the impression that poal has a ‘downvote’ culture going on. If a user is being a spam tard I usually just block them and move on.
