I've been a terrible sleeper my entire life and I was always told not to nap, because it would make it harder to fall asleep when I 'needed' to. About ten year ago I decided that if I was tired enough to take a nap that meant I 'needed' to sleep.
I would take naps if time allowed, but I'm always too busy. I do occasionally get the opportunity and I enjoy it when I do.
You seem to burn the candle hard. Even a half hour nap is very refreshing
I could never take just a half hour nap I don't think, it takes me at least that long to fall asleep most days. I probably do as much as I do for exactly that reason I have a lot of trouble sleeping.
Because you are overwhelmed with the bright happiness that is existence right ;)
I never did, but once I retired I got into the habit of an after lunch nap. I do generally get up early and stay up late, so a nap is cool.
What's the average length of time and do you find it refreshing?
Again, being retired gives me flexibility that most don't have. I'm generally good with an hour, hour and a half ... but hey, if I'm exceptionally tired, longer isn't our of the question. I skip naps too ... most days I do, but some days I just don't feel like one.
I wish I could take naps.
Naps recharge me. I think more clearly after a nap.
Nope. I want to but I've just never been able to perfect the half hour snooze. I usually end up sleeping much, much longer.
Absolutely, almost every day! Found a "hack" for this that works 100%. Check out out - http://saramednick.com/htmls/book/napwheel.htm
Been using the "wheel' system for several years and can confirm totally works for me. Time to nap is based on what time you wake up. Normally my naps are short (5-30 mins), but occasionally I'll sleep longer and end up groggy. That happens maybe 1-2 times per month. I don't use an alarm.
You don't use an alarm? The fuck. How does that even work? My naptime is not in the good spot :( according to your link.
Give the timing in the link I posted a shot and note the difference. Use an alarm, no probs. I don't use one since I just don't need it. I still use one when I absolutely must be somewhere at a given time, but normally wake up before it.
