ham bone, thyme... bay leaves.... its pretty basic AND SEASON, start light and adjust to your pallet as it cooks

also you can get season bags so people dont get dried bay leaves in their spoon.... otherwise remember how many you put in there and find them

also carrot for sweetness, dont over do it tho...ughh one more edit... i mean if too salty from ham bone carrots can offset it, like i said start light and adjust its important in soup and judge if too salty because different company salt ham different

here, exactly what i was saying.... i would add dried bay leaves tho they did say too... i dont know about about celery tho, to yeah, or onions unless sweet
