The only snakes I have near me that would be a concern are copperheads. I've never had a problem with them. As long as you are careful near places they like to hide and don't surprise them, they aren't an issue. The only animals I'm scared of are ticks and bed bugs. Bed bugs because if you get them they can be expensive to get rid of, and ticks because I camp and hike a lot. I have a healthy fear of getting lime disease.
