Poor thing. She’ll come around, keep up the short walks and be firm but kind. Bring the treats along in a baggie so you can reinforce her along the walk, and over time you’ll be able to go farther from home. You got this, and she’ll love you for it!
Ooh! Walk treats! That IS a good idea! I've managed to get her to go just barely over one block, but it was an exceptionally quiet night.
We take her into the graveyard behind our house and let her run around there, though, and just that alone has caused her to change from a really weird [probably depressed] dog, to a more happy, if still lazy critter.
The best part of the delicious chicken and cheese treats is it’s the smell and flavour that drives the animal. You don’t need to give much at a time at all, so a bit can last a long time. And when you get back home successfully, you can let her finish whatever remains as a bonus! It will certainly help 😁
She does love cheese. Some added chicken clearly wouldn't hurt, either!
Ooh, neat thing we just discovered cooking the Christmas feast for the family... Ma dropped an egg. Jozer licked it up! We finally got us an egg suckin' dog! Our last dog was no help with that at all, but on the other hand she was awesome on long walks and terrifying to anyone she thought shouldn't be around. Josie's actually super scary sounding too, but she's mostly bark. The missus imagines she probably chewed down some fences in her time, because her teeth are so dull. She's probably older than the 7 years they claimed she was... but whatever; we'll give her the best life possible for her remaining years.
