Bank of England twisted George III's arm by forcing him to pay in gold and silver. Taxes can only be payed in gold and silver thus making colonial scrip essentially worthless, plus they were banned from printing their own money anyway. What happens when you don't pay your taxes? The colonies were essentially being robbed since they were incapable of paying what was asked of them. On top of this, they had no voice in the British parliament. Fighting became preferable to sitting around as their assets were seized.
