There are programs for sale online that allow the use of the old scanners. They may be cheaper than picking up a new scanner of quality equal to the old one.

I think its a driver issues .. I've tried several software solutions.

If you have one in mind, I could try.

Thanks for the post.

The pro works with my old HP with a slide scanner. HP kissed it off after XP.

Tried the vuescan before w/o luck.

Re-tried it today and seemed to work.

But they want $100.

I solved it via this fix, using NAPS scanner software.

Been trying various software for months, on and off...using an older PC for scanning .. that PC took a windows issue where it locked up the machine .. terrific, right?

I still have a XP machine just to run a microscope I have ... computers. Making the world easier. My ass.

Just install a real OS and then it'll quite possibly work perfectly.

Where is the aggravation and fun in that ?

Shit, I somehow overlooked that important detail!

Maybe install OS/2?

Install Gentoo.

Gentoo I tried Linux .. much of my equipment that hooks to PC won't work.

Its a limitation of Linux.

I did find this , after trying many other scanner software .... scanvue looked promising but I could not open the pdf created (think because it was a trial and they want to imprinte their watermark and they do this via web page that is donw/not there anymore.. jpgs were OK to view...and they want $100 (one hundred dollars)

Following the instructions on the linked page above got the scanner up and running using the NAPS scanner software, which is free and pretty sweet IMO

Still interested in new ones ...

I ran duplex printing and single side printing .. worked v. good, as expected.

The Fuji 5120c scanner is an awesome one ... I see them on ebay for under $100 too.
