I just recently watched Silicon Valley and I swear they had a shoehorn quota of three serious holocaust references a season behind the scenes. Anyone who believes the holocaust story want to chime in on why more than 70 years later and with communist china with 75 million deaths under their belt after ww2 and numerous african genocides Hitler is still THE penultimate evil in media?

Well, first, there's plenty of records that support the holocaust happening, and those records are pretty easily accessed. Also, all the other atrocities, while certainly larger in terms of number of people killed, were leaders doing it to their own people or one population. What some people forget is that the 11 million people estimated people killed did include 6 million Jews, but also included gays, Jehovah's Witnesses, Gypsies, and the disabled, among others. Hence, Hitler's is seen as worse, as he tried to kill multiple different populations he viewed as subhuman.

They are sub human. Why is it a crime to deny the holocaust in European nations if it is so easily verified?

First, are some records. These were found with a quick search on DuckDuckGo. Secondly, you ever heard the saying, "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."? Yeah, that's probably why holocaust denial is illegal in those countries: most people aren't exactly keen on a repeat performance of the Holocaust or WWII.
