So I'm with a customer explaining what I noticed, did and what needs to be done or changed on their property. I get to a detail concerning a quick and easy service I provided automatically. Just bringing it to their attention that it was there and I fixed it. Almost. I wasn't able to completely finish my sentence because the husband stopped me to say that what I did wasn't really the main concern for my being there. I didn't miss a beat and told him that I was just telling them everything I noticed and did while I was there. Simple.

We finished up a few minor details and I was on my way. No rude behavior or otherwise noticable awkwardness.

But this stuck with me. I couldn't figure out what this guys point was or why did felt it necessary to bring up that one small detail of what I did wasn't the true underlying reason for my being at his home. I know I'm being vague. Whst I did was related to my purpose just not the exact reason. So his response interested me.

Did he feel like he needed to minimize my deed because it made it less needed? Like he never did that because it was so insignificant. Or was he focused on minimizing this deed because he thought I was going to up the charge? I'm probably overthinking but whatever. His action stuck with me so I'm getting it out.

Title goof. Guilt or defensiveness? Was the intended title.
