That's one thing I like about Linux in general, that you can just let the updates handle themselves without worrying about any bullshit being thrown in. Anything remotely fishy, and guaranteed some wizard (I'm the sense that they've achieved technical mastery) has already found the problem and kicked up a stink about it long before it has had a chance to reach the casual user.
Ubuntu had a lot of bloat, but the deal breaker for me 2as installing something, and then not being able to find it later. Mint's start menu has everything you need, and if you can't find it, you just scroll through the relevant sub-menu, and you'll find what you were looking for.
i think the repos vet what ever is published anyways, dont quote me on that. I'm still just a linux newbie i'm about as good on linux as i can search. I've been thinking on getting a drive and just play with it, but i just don't have the time.
