Because when I joined, you could only have a max of 12 characters in your name so I couldn't have the name I use on other platforms. But since then I've seen really long user names, so I assume that's changed.

Yes, we've changed the length (valid usernames are between 2 and 32 characters long)

It's ok to create more than one account as long as you don't use them to upvote your other accounts and/or downvote other users.
