Huh! I don't actually meet many fans in the wild!
Their target models are fantastic - I think. And, it's .22LR. You can plink all day for a few bucks - and it's a .22LR. You can kill someone with it, but you'd probably have to work at it.
I enjoy them ... mine being a Mk III Standard ... I had to look it up on my gun inventory database, I forgot which 'precise' model I bought. I just think the standard's are so 'cool', but probably because I'm an old guy and am fascinated by things from my youth - LOL.
Yes, the bull barrel target guys with the tricked out sights are much better. But I just like to make noise, and to me they're just heavy and ugly in comparison. The newer fluted barrel ones and all the plastics compensate ... but I'll still take a good old fashion Standard any day. It's kinda what made Ruger ... Ruger.
Strangely, you're probably only the second Standard fan I've met online. I get great joy from disassembling a Mk. II and watching a visitor try to reassemble it.
