Unlike most land-based animals, this one didn’t get eaten or decay right away. Instead, it settled into a part of the seabed where not much lived — no predators, no scavengers.

Bullshit. Scavengers on the ocean floor can smell food for miles. All kinds of sharks, crabs etc come and feast until they can't eat anymore because it can be a very long time between meals for them. After all of the fresh has been eaten, worms will come and eat the bones. The explanation for this preservation is bullshit.
