From the post:

>A rare, nearly complete skull of an ancient amphibian has been unearthed in North Central Texas. The discovery was made by Andre LuJan, a professional paleontologist from Dallas and director of the Texas Through Time Fossil Museum in Hillsboro. LuJan found the fossil at the Permian Quarry in Archer County after heavy rains helped expose the remains. The specimen belongs to Eryops megacephalus, a large-headed semi-aquatic predator that lived over 280 million years ago during the Permian period.

Screw dinosaurs, the critters from the Permian are way more fascinating. They're lizards and frogs, and yet not. They're proto mammals and yet not. It's crazy.

Looks like a extra large baked potato with oversized vent holes on top - and lots and lots of teeth.

Very cool. Texas is loaded with fossils.
