Thanks for posting this story. Old tartan discoveries always perk my ears as my family was among the famous (infamous) border reivers (reavers) families that lived between Scotland and England. What I've heard is that many, if not most of the old England/Scotland wars were actually wars between England and the border reiver families. Anyway, my family was so hated that their tartan was banned long ago and is now completely lost to history. We don't know the colors or any idea about the pattern. (Of course, I'm proud of this, but it would be nice to know what tartan they wore...)
