Do archaeologists ever stop to consider that they are really nothing but grave robbers? That centuries have gone by doesn't change the reality that the are breaking into graves and stealing the contents. If they started digging up grandma and stealing her jewelery, we'd be annoyed at them, but if they do the same things to King Tut's grandma, nobody lifts a finger.
