I recall reading about an archaeologist who was bound and determined to prove that ancient Egyptians could use copper tools to carve rock. He went to the ancient quarry where the cracked obelisk is and they started chipping away. They left after half a day because they made no progress at all.
I call bullshit!
Copper tools to carve stone?
Most the stone used in the pyramids is pretty soft. The hard granite, used for burial chamber walls and some of the exterior casing, would have posed a more difficult problem. It doesn't exclude the possibility there were other more specialized tools used for harder stone. There are theories regarding the harder stone as well tho, and they've found evidence of what they believe would have been used like a giant table saw and once incorporated huge metal (table saw like circular metal blades) taking advantage of the centrifugal force generated by the blades size once it got going.
