On my porch this morning, I looked up and saw two birds in the tree near me. They were picking at it, trying to pull small sticks from the branches. It was a pleasant reminder that life is always in the process of renewal, and that even a cityfag porchmonkey like me can enjoy nature from time to time. Glad I looked up.

What part of the world do you live in that birds are building nests this time of year? That is an early spring activity for raising their young. Wasn't aware they do it at any other time, as it's a great expenditure of resources for them.

I have no idea why. Maybe that's not what I was seeing, but I did see the birds picking at small twigs from the tree, trying to work them free. Could only guess it was nest-building. I'm in the midwest.

Maybe they're just confused. After all, they are birdbrains. The best part is you're out there enjoying the world.

Maybe they were putting in an addition. :-)
