You can make new friends from far away, get entertainment and have access to tons of knowledge. Though the last one is seen by some as not utilized as well as it could be, it is a bit silly to expect the Internet to radically change human nature and make us all brilliant. At least the Internet is mostly pretty good.

Depending. some / much of the entertainment on the internet may be / can be really useless / massive waste of time to as well.

Internet can be extremely resourceful and makes life much easier alone at times to as well though.
