I didn't realize how much I'd been compensating for it wearing out; easing off the line, upping the rpms ever so slightly to get into gear once at speed. After 180,000 miles, mostly in the city, it finally gave up all together last week. This week it has been an absolute pleasure to drive again.

Oh wow, well that sucks.

My old clutch just plain slips, no real shudder. I just don't trounce the gas and it's fine, not like it has all that much power anyway. And I never drive that car anymore anyhow because it's just too old and cool and rare to risk on LA streets.
