I didn't realize how much I'd been compensating for it wearing out; easing off the line, upping the rpms ever so slightly to get into gear once at speed. After 180,000 miles, mostly in the city, it finally gave up all together last week. This week it has been an absolute pleasure to drive again.

It's no classic that I can just pop the hood & tinker with whatever comes to hand but it's not so new as to be disposable.

Before my mom would teach me how to drive s she insisted that I at least be able to change a tire, the oil, and the spark plugs. I haven't done any of those things in years, but at least I have an idea of where to start if I had to.
