OMG rayyyycissts everywhere! Gotdang wuhite people and their............ ham sammiches.

I am also making a crockpot full of pea soup with a 16 inch long hambone with like a pound and a half of meat on it. My house is a muslim/jew deterrent zone with the lovely pork smell.

I haven't had that in a while, that's some great northern winter cooking

Yeah man. The second winter hits I get a craving for it and people in my family know to save hambones in the freezer for me because they can get a few bowls in exchange. Super simple as well, just soak the split peas over night, get them started on some heat the next day with the hambone, salt, black pepper, onion or shallots, some minced garlic, dash of cumin (brings out the smoke flavor in the ham), and add carrots at the end so they are tender and not mush. NOM NOM NOM.
