Yup, same for all the locations I knew. Of course if we wanted peak comfy, nothing compared to Kenny Rogers Roasters. But I get choked up thinking about it going under, so I try not to remember that gem too much.

Most all of my old favs from 20-40 years ago are gone now. Very sad. So many memories of friends and family celebration ... and the great food/ambiance that no longer exists.

God. Yeah...

So Cal had a chain called Love's. Ribs and BBQ place. I've never found ANYWHERE that did ribs better than them. It's also the place that gave me my oddball liking of smoking sections. I know a lot of people hate it, but a restaurant with a small hint of stale or old tobacco just feels nostalgic for me. Not talking smokers car kind of stink. I knew MANY places with that, especially the closer in time it was to the 70s. Just an old smell of people who smoked there. It was one of the very few things I actually liked about casinos during the brief stint that I lived in Vegas. I don't smoke myself, nor have I ever. But I really like the smell of tobacco.

Lol! My friend in Alabama (formerly of San Diego area) and I were talking on the phone earlier this week, talked a bit about ribs and he mentioned Love's and their ribs, "best he ever had". All we had for ribs in this area was "Tony Roma's" for years, and they closed that restaurant years ago.
