It's got a nice cast brass clipper ship base, and some cool color glass connectors. The sockets were in bad shape, as was the original shade, those were tossed as they aren't useful and would be replaced anyway.

I'm going to remove the side looking sockets and replace them with modern cast brass units, and double-wire it so one is an accent lamp and one is a for-light lamp. Not sure about the shade, the original was short so I may need to raise the finial up some, but I'm thinking one of the aladdin style nautical shades.

I like old bridge and floor lamps, they have a lot more character than modern stuff.

that's pretty neat - all you need now is to outfit it with red lightbulbs, playing some Iron Butterfly and bust out the opium and call it a weekend!

I think I'll skip the drugs.

I am going to outfit one side of it with a warm 2W LED bulb that stays on all the time. The other side will be for room lighting.

it was in jest. I am curious to see how it turns out - what type of shade/s will you use, or none?

I'm not sure. I have some ideas, but it's going to need a bit of modification to implement. I'll probably call up a machinist friend and see if they can make me a piece of brass to raise the shade up.

Since the lamp is nautical theme, I was thinking a shade like this: https://pic8.co/sh/oiTkeu.jpg

Is that spicy glass? Just run it under a UV light, see if it glows. Nice find

It doesn't feel like uranium glass, that kind of feels greasy. I think I have an EPROM eraser around, will try that.

Yeah, didn't really have good light except in the garage.
