Not sure why, it was a couple bucks. I think I just liked the 1970s pattern, and it's still in good enough shape to use for it's intended purpose.

I've got the same set in 1970s green packed away somewhere in storage ... along with my grandparents salt and pepper shaker collection dating back to around 1910 (unless they also had my great grandparent's shakers in that assortment too which would go back to ~1880. Here's a set I have in a glass cabinet in my kitchen - couple of the oldest ones (pic8.co), I think. Top picture (pic8.co), bottom picture. (pic8.co)

Out of curiosity, i did a search and found a pair on etsy. (etsy.com)

$18 ... woo hoo I'm rich!

For something your grandmother probably paid $0.35 at the discount store for...that's a decent appreciation.

My grandmother had them on her dining room table up until the early 1970s when she was too old to be on her own and moved into assisted living.

I know she had no idea of the symbolism they entail, I didn't either until about 5 years ago.

Ah, I really enjoy when Poalers reveal themselves!

Stuff never got tossed when I was a kid, my folks were depression era kids.

I don't remember to pull my zipper up sometimes when I leave the house in the morning. That was too long ago, no idea.

Are you secretly a 70 year old woman?

No. I just like the patterns, colors, and styles of the era I grew up in.

You may hate it, but I'd totally decorate a room in pumpkin orange, dark green, and brown if I had the money and space.

avocado green kitchens and harvest gold shag carpets!

Yes Sir, absolutely hideous.

I don't really consider room deco much, so I doubt I'd hate it. Is the stuff functional? Then its fine.

Yes, everything I buy at a show like this is either ready to use, or is restorable/parts for something else I have.

I bought a floor lamp at the same show. It had been electrically butchered, but there are plenty of places selling period-accurate electrical goods that will fit and will bring it back to life. I usually patronize Grand Brass, they have a lot of what you'd need for antique lighting projects.
