I'd guess that any gaps between the walls and the building would fill in, the storms down there look pretty horrific. The building entrances use a heavy duty double door airlock system to prevent the wind from freezing the interior in seconds.

Even with their double doors, the blowing freezing wind and snow freeze the walls and frost builds up inside and it looks like when a freezer has ice buildup on the walls. Sometimes the buildup prevents their outside door from closing properly.
