My guess would be that these pictures were taken around the outdoor set of that film, which was made in Mont-Blanc, Chamonix, Haute-Savoie, France, a snowy mountainous region.

I think it's pretty safe to say that since Humankind evolved to its current form Antarctica has been impossible to reach alive without at minimum a 19th-Century technological base. The icy conditions, swift circular currents, and unimpeded ferocious freezing winds in the seas around Antarctica made the continent virtually inaccessible without a powered metal-clad ship. Any artifacts would have had to be imported, or washed up after years in the sea.
Antarctica is so fucked up that it doesn't even have any reptiles or amphibians at all.
