So a little while ago, @AOU and I were looking at invidious and realized something, it is open source. So we decided Poal.co should host an instance of it and then @AOU did his magic and made it pretty and tube.poal.co was born! I hope everyone enjoys the new feature and enjoy that now all videos expando's for youtube videos, invidious videos and a few others will not be able to track you.

Cheers.

Well its different from hooketube in that it doesn't use any of the youtube API, youtube can't look over your shoulder at what you are watching(also no ads) its an instance of invidious at its core for the moment but the plan is bigger than that.

My poor analogy was more like... is Poal is the user YT see's watching a video but we are "looking over Poals shoulder" so us users are invisible to YT?

That’s a good way to look at it.

One last ?. Is it likely YT will "retaliate" against Invidio and you to prevent this in the future? They can't be happy unless it still counts clicks for the advertisers. But still the advertisers can't be happy they're not reaching eyes. It's always all about the money.

YT only sees that an IP requested a link to a video file which then will be played by Poaltube's HTML5 player loaded on your browser.

More, you can use "local=true" URL parameter to proxy the video through the server of the Invidious instance and then, Google will knows nothing about you (except an users loaded the video from the Invidious instance).

If it can helps, I've written a Firefox extension to ease the use of Invidious. It converts every YT links to Invidious and use the instance of our choice. It also works with .onion domains. Video are also proxied by default but it can be disabled. You can find it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/invidition/

Thanks, and good luck with the improvements.
