You wouldn’t happen to be a jehovas witness? I used to talk to a few and that seemed to be one of their beliefs.

Oh okay, just coincidence then. It was interesting though, they don't give gifts for any special occasions just as the mood strikes through out the year, no birthday or holiday celebrations. Quite a fascinating take on things.
