Giving is never a bad thing. But it should come from heart, not from the calendar. And many christmas gifts are given due to social norms and then thrown away, a complete waste.

Well then should we not encourage more giving through the year not discourage it just because it’s a social norm for the time?

We should encourage giving in general, but not tie it to dates or events.

You wouldn’t happen to be a jehovas witness? I used to talk to a few and that seemed to be one of their beliefs.
