riot/matrix server hosted on my own hardware. Its being a pain in the ass at the moment but I'll get it fixed.

Why does everyone have use matrix? It's still experimental. Why not XMPP?

I had a friend check it and she says it full of security problems, back doors gallor and all java crap. But if somebody doesn't take the risks to try to work it and resolve it it will never develop.

XMPP is an option I've looked into, just didn't seem quite as user friendly
