Well I promise if you just comment a little here and there you could get there within a week. Level 6 was decided because being able to see this information is a privilege that we wouldn't want to hand over to people who don't care. If you don't care about the platform why would you care?
Declaring what constitutes caring or not is a very bizarre thing to do, and if anything makes me hesitate to contribute further at all if you believe you can decide what caring means for me.
Not trying to pick a fight, just making an observation that your accusation is.. bizarre, and I really have no answer because you don't decide what I care about, how I value what I care about, and what precautions I take on the Internet (or the reasons for that).
It would be like me asking you why you care about how I care about things. It just doesn't make any sense. It's a bad argument. I'm here for my own reasons, just like I have my own reasons for the vehicles I drive, the hobbies I choose, and the life I live.
You are currently at level 3 almost 4. You could easily at your commenting rate today get level 6 tomorrow. So I fail to see how this is a limitation you can't surpass.
I don't decide what is caring for you, but I do have to decide where the lines are its my job, it comes with paying the bill every month. I've enabled people to donate but for the most part this site has been funded entirely by me. So it falls on me to make those calls. If you disagree tell me why and if I think you make a good enough argument to convince me I'm wrong I'll change the rules.
I'm not making a judgment on you, I'm making the best call I know to make. The buck stops with me so I make the best calls I can. I know I can't please everyone I never will be able too. So I do my best and well the cards will fall where they will. If I've learned anything about running a site like this its no matter what you do, you will piss someone off. So I do my best and hope for the best. I'm not right all the time and I tell people to call me out when they think I am wrong and I encourage them to do so. I'm not mad you are calling out my choice I just disagree. So convince me I'm wrong. Or at least know I welcome the criticism.
Simple recommendation is to allow accounts to slowly accrue points as they age (reverse decay). Tying it to a set of mechanics reliant on activity is just as likely to cause people to post echo chamber content simply to get the required points as it is to create organic conversations.
That's all.
