I like this, it is a good thing and if you say it isn't you are an ebil nazi Russia troll. Like OMG more transparency is fucking communist you guys n' sheeit ammirite? lol. People who downBriggade should be protected under anonymity b/c their feelings might get hurt when trying to stir the pot so it is totally racist or what-eva m8!
Nobody ever downvotes on Poal, its an honour thing. Downvoting is for spam, says so on the welcome page i think. I can't help thinking this is in preparation of the Voat migration.
It is dealing with a previous migration at best. At worst its preparation for another.
While I agree with the concept and I agree it mitigates a known problem, I do worry that at some point someone will be faced in a court with not only their public Facebook and such but also the comments they posted in the safety of anonymity and now also the list of things they up and down voted. This I fear will be used in a cherry picking way to paint someone however the prosecutor wishes to frame them.
Instead of a warrant canary, what about a dead mans switch for you? If you don’t actively reset it in a timely manner, it securely deletes all comment attribution and voting databases.
The site will remain, but in an anonymous state for all previous comments.
It is dealing with a previous migration at best. At worst its preparation for another.
I'm going to downvote this comment just so I can see what it looks like, then I'll dedownvote and properly upvote....in 5.....4......3......2......1......>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Nice.....
Do it you know you want too.
DV. There just down voted you street style.
Back at cha muh Nazi.
Hey where have you been? Haven't seen you round for a while.
Howzit. , maybe a little keyboard-lazy but been around. Catch you in the comments ;)
Thanks for all the feedback guys.
You're welcome. I know my input is highly prized.
That it is.
Darling, you're swelling my ego! Stop! (Hint: Keep going.)
Well I do like swelling your "ego" I do quite enjoy your MSM4Poal posts and so does everyone else.
Who is that? I don't recall anyone like that. Probably no one important.
And I would have gotten away with it, too. If it weren't for those pesky admins!
What is the logic behind 6 or higher? I'm probably never going to achieve 6 simply because I'm not active enough and mostly lurk.
That's the same standard for post downvotes.
I understand it's the same setting threshold. That doesn't clarify the logic behind the level choice.
Consistency is the reason. Seeing downvotes on comments is now consistent with seeing them on posts. It only makes sense to keep the threshold the same. There is no good reason to treat them differently in this regard.
Keeps lazy shills out of harms way, for everyone else.
Perhaps if you don't post that much you're not as likely to need this feature.
edit: One advantage of having a threshold is that shills who are new to this site tend to not know about these features.
Because its a privilege to use that feature that is earned not given. If you don't care about the platform why would you care about that feature? Its really easy to get there I promise you don't even need to post a few comments a week would get you there pretty quickly.
You're only half way through
Half way through in 2 years. So you're saying I've got 2 more years to go. See my argument?
Just try to be a little active for a few days and you'll get there.
Same here
Might as well apply the same thing to polls.
I can see an argument against it.
Whatever your argument, I'm sure it would be addressed by simply making public/private polls a user-selectable option for the poll creator.
I would happily participate in a poll where my answer was visible to others, and I could clearly see the reasons why having the option for the traditional anonymous poll would be appropriate.
This one is a good idea and I'll see about making it a thing.
Can someone please downvote this comment?
I did you one better I reported you instead. Did I do it right?
I need a way to see who's reporting my posts and comments.
Sure, it's gonna cost you 500 poalbucks per report.
This comment has been reported for hate speech.
You can't stop me from upvoting bitch!
Thanks !
Way to go, gents!
Great move! I think this is a move in the right direction.
Thanks for doing this and here's one little bit of feedback: You should make upvotes/downvotes score visible from user comment history page and also add a details button there so we can go through our histories and find out who hates us!
It would have been better to set it up the way gab had it in the beginning, and that is for every down vote you give, you lose a karma point. It was also limited to 10 down votes for every 4 hours.
