I don't see what it could be used for, especially if you own an old monitor/display/tv with RGB input.
Amiga 500 to svideo or using the rgb passthrough and the two svideo outputs for capture and a projector, think demoparty.
Makes sense. But isn't it overkill? Especially since RGB to HDMI converters are cheap nowadays.
Hdmi is pretty much digital rgb hs/v and it is easy to convert. Going to Svideo from RGB requires some circuitry and an adv7201 or similar to do the conversion I have built a few and it usually costs me around 35 dollars in parts plus my time for one output but has zero lag and maintains the same resolution. The hdmi solutions usually have a ton of lag and run hot unless you get one in the $175+ range.
The other point being it is next to impossible to find a rgb crt these days that you could snap up for cheap but svhs/svideo are aplenty and the picture quality with some tuning looks pretty swell.
