Over the years I've come to realize that it's never about minorities, blacks in particular, not having "x". It's about them not having "x" in exactly the same way as another group. This means that pointing out that not only do they have "x", though probably in a different way than another group, they also have "y" is interpreted as either changing the subject or goal post shifting. If group "a" isn't getting "x" in exactly the same way as group "b", regardless of having "y", then the system is racist & you are racist for not understanding that.

This is purely conjecture. I don't think I've managed to suffer such conversations long enough to be called racist outright.

To me it's more that a certain group of people hope to enhance and maintain their power base by playing all non-white people against whites. Divide and conquer, so to speak.
