Would have upvoted on title alone, but it was a great article as well. Really drives home the divide and conquer nature of what's being played here.
One thing I think needs to be emphasized more, which the writer touched on, is how they get things to be reasonable by suggesting something horrible and then walking it back. They prepared many of us (probably depends what state you're in) for the possibility of being pulled over by a cop, asked about your reason for being out and possibly being arrested or fined if you weren't carrying papers. Now we're thankful they're not doing that instead of wondering why the hell we aren't allowed to live our lives.
Oh, and you get access to cool things like your paycheck and health insurance, too.

That is so fucking true I can't believe more people don't see it. We're supposed to be grateful for being "allowed" to go back outside that few people question the "allow" part of the equation.
